To our dismay, Phil Laak has been eliminated from the PartyPoker World Open in London where he was defending the title that he won last year.
Sporting a Union Jack cast on his broken arm and a red Mohawk, he showed up at the event as a fan favorite, especially amongst the home fans that he wooed with his English colors and extravagant look!
Despite this, it would not be his day as he got unlucky when he had a great chance to double up. He set a trap from the small blind with AT spades and the aggressive Toby Lewis would push all in from the big blind with QT hearts. Although the Unabomber got his money all in with a dominant hand, a Q would fall on the flop and knock him out of the tournament.
He didn’t go easily however and upon being eliminated pleaded “You can’t send me away. Pleeeeeeease. Rebuy!”
His heat was filled with some big names in poker including WSOP Champion Huck Seed, but in the end, it was the amateur Dale Hoy that would put the pros at the table to shame and win the Heat. Toby Lewis, winner of the PokerStars EPT Portugal event would finish as the runner-up and then go on to win the runners-up heat that also involved Jennifer Tilly, and seal a place at the final table.
The final table finishes for the PartyPoker World Open are:
Sam Trickett – $200,000
Yevgeniy Timoshenko – $110,000
Toby Lewis – $75,000
Juha Helppi – $35,000
John Duthie – $25,000
Andrew Robl – $20,000
Dale Hoy – $15,000
